Unleash the Power of Learning
with a Canberra school excursion

Every Australian school student deserves the opportunity to visit their National Capital

Canberra is the keeper of our national collections of history, culture, arts, science and democracy; collections that tell our national story, and help connect all Australians to their story.

Build your excursion experience

By visiting Canberra students gain a deeper understanding of how we’re governed, and build a sense of personal and national identity – what it means to be Australian.

Travel/Tours

Our drivers bring the city of Canberra to life for your students, infusing sightseeing and intriguing information throughout your itinerary.

Attractions

Delve into Australia’s political history at Parliament House with a guided tour through iconic halls and chambers. Run an election at the National Electoral Education Centre. Inspire your future athletes with an athlete-guided tour of the Australian Institute of Sport, then test your skills in Sportex. Spark curiosity with interactive science activities at Questacon, CSIRO or Geoscience.

There are many more venues and programs available. Through our enquiry process we will discuss your excursion focus and required outcomes to tailor a proposal to your needs.

Exhibitions

Discover the heart of Australia’s cultural and historical narrative. The National Gallery showcases our national collection of Australian and international art works, the National Museum of Australia immerses students in the diverse stories of Australia’s past and present. At the Australian War Memorial, students will honour the sacrifices of those who served and have insight into our nation’s military history.

Accommodation

Booked accommodation properties vary based on availability for your dates of travel, your group size, students’ age group, your preferred budget, accommodation style and location.

Many schools are booking their Canberra excursion two, three, and even four years in advance to have more choice of preferred dates and accommodation.

Things to consider when planning a trip to Canberra

Excursion Dates

Book several years in advance, and travel outside of Term 3, for more choice of accommodation and programs.

PACER

Our Federal Government actively encourages school students to visit Australia’s National Capital, by providing financial assistance.

The Parliament And Civics Education Rebate (PACER) is a sliding scale rebate based on schools’ travelling distance to Canberra (conditions apply).
