Our Story

Decades of making school excursions easy for busy school teachers

In the early-1980s, Greg transitioned from a diesel mechanic to a long-distance tour coach driver, embarking on journeys across every Australian state and territory. After marrying Heidi, Greg stayed closer to home and focused on studying business management and accountancy. This would help in running a successful mechanical business whilst maintaining a connection to coach tours by organising ski trips for friends and as fundraisers.

The genesis of Macquarie Educational Tours came when teachers sought Greg and Heidi’s expertise for school excursions, leading to the company’s organic growth. The success is rooted in a customer-centric approach, treating schools as VIP clients and tailoring excursions to their unique needs.

Greg and Heidi have imparted their industry knowledge to their expanding team, taking on business partners Julie and Dallas and creating systems that ensure Macquarie Educational Tours delivers well-researched, organised, outcome-focused excursions led by friendly coach drivers. Today, the company offers comprehensive excursion services, including land and air travel, to schools nationwide, continually researching new destinations and programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum.

A personal note from Heidi & Greg

After more than twenty six years since Macquarie Educational Tours’ inception, we still enjoy working hands-on in our wonderful company. These days together with our business partners, Julie and Dallas, our focus is on equipping our office and driving teams to strive for excellence, and refining our systems to accommodate business growth.

The feedback we regularly receive from teachers is testimony to our commitment to providing excellent excursion experiences.

It is our privilege to work with you to provide excellent excursion experiences for you and your students.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Kind regards,
Greg & Heidi
