Why We Love The Australian Institute Of Sport

The AIS is an incredible facility that houses the training centres for our Australian athletes. It is a venue that the students love and are always so excited for when visiting Canberra!

On the tour of the AIS facilities, you can might catch some of Australia’s top athletes training and see how they prepare for upcoming events like the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Sportex is a favourite amongst the students – an educational and engaging sports experience where they can try their hands at wheelchair basketball, virtual downhill skiing, rock climbing, football penalty shootouts and more! Sportex is included in every AIS tour and it’s usually hard to get the kids out of there!

As part of your tour, you may also have the opportunity to play on the very fields and venues where Australia’s sporting champions train and compete. Students can participate in a 90 minute session learning the rules, skills and drills for up to three different sports including; cricket, hockey, futsal, volleyball, track & field and more.

Of course, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the AIS is currently closed to the public until 27th April 2020, however, we’re still taking lots of bookings for 2021 & 2022! So if you’re planning a Canberra excursion for 2021 & beyond – we highly recommend including a visit to the AIS!
